Recycling Info
Easton’s curbside recycling program recently switched to single-stream recycling, which allows many types of recyclables to be disposed of in one bin. All containers should be empty and clean. For more information, call the Easton Department of Public Works, 203-268-0714.
Acceptable Items:
- Telephone Books
- Hardcover Books
- Pots and Pans
- Small Plastic Toys
- Aerosol cans - empty with non-hazardous material (no paint or pesticides)
- Plastic Flower Pots
- Metal and Plastic Hangers
- Glass food and beverage containers
- Metal food and beverage containers, steel and aluminum cans (up to number 10 size)
- PET (polyethylene terephthalater) plastic food and beverage containers which are marked on the bottom of the container with the number "1" encircled by the recycling symbol
- Plastic food and beverage containers which are marked on the bottom with the "2," "3", "4", "5", etc. encircled by the recycling symbol.
- Cardboard Egg Cartons
- Cereal Boxes
- Newspapers
- Corrugated cardboard folded flat - max. Dimension (2) two feet
- Junk mail, i.e. Brochures, Catalogs, Coupons, Envelopes, Flyers, Magazines, Office Paper, Stationary
Non-Acceptable system:
- Plastic bags, even if they have a "1" or "2" on them
- Styrofoam
- Electronics or batteries
- Compact discs or CDs
- Foam Egg Cartons
- Light Bulbs
- Lids on Containers
- Broken Glass
